2.1 Content and teaching strategies of the teaching area Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the concepts, substance and structure of the content and teaching strategies of the teaching area
Example Integrated unit of work As part of a third year university subject, I designed a unit over view for a year two class which incorporated geography, history, design and technology, maths and science subjects and included all relevant strands and sub strands. This unit over view highlights my understanding of the concepts, substance and structure of the Australian Curriculum. Pedagogical approaches and teaching strategies are identified and include the use of varied learning modes and technology, the establishment of links between cultural and social contexts and the provision of a variety of opportunities to learn.. This unit of work will be taught in diverse but consistently supportive and encouraging learning environments. The assessment components, both formative and summative, will assist and encourage learning whilst providing an effective measure of student achievement.
Example Integrated lesson plans The associated lesson plans are included below. These detailed teaching aids include specific teaching strategies, learning outcomes, lesson sequences and adjustments. This demonstrates my understanding of the teaching area. Assessment details and required resources are also outlined.
Additional Example Further evidence Additional evidence of how I meet this strand can be located here and relates to the '5 E's model'.
