5.4 Interpret student data Demonstrate the capacity to interpret student assessment data to evaluate student learning and modify teaching practice
Example Example of an improvement strategy A clear example of my ability to interpret student assessment data, evaluate student learning and modify teaching practice can be found here.
Example The use of 'practice' tests It is often useful to plan practice tests during teaching of units of work. These tests serve as a great tool when assessing student learning and whether or not students are working towards identified learning outcomes. I have experienced this during my recent placement. I taught students a Mathematics unit of work focused around 'money'. During this unit, I designed a practice test and students completed this. The results showed that overall, concepts were being understood in the classroom. Having said this, most students struggled completing questions asked using words rather than numbers for example, 'If Timothy had fifty dollars and gave Ava ten dollars how much money would Timothy have left over?'. This identification allowed me to focus on this area and alter my teaching strategy. Examples of the practice test are included below.
