3.4 Select and use resources Demonstrate knowledge of a range of resources, including ICT, that engage students in their learning
Example The use of computers in the classroom During my final two placements, students were dedicated time to use the computers during at least three lessons per week. During this time, students engaged in literacy, science and mathematics content in an interactive manner. Programs used during this time included 'Mathletics' and 'Spelling City'. Students completed weekly spelling and mathematics assessments using these programs. Students enjoyed their allocated computer time due to the interactive component. The use of ICT complimented normal classroom lessons and stimulated ongoing engagement from students.
Example The use of computer programs and applications for curriculum subjects During my third teaching placement, the following computer programs were utilized to compliment student learning. The programs provided students with interactive activities that could be completed during school hours or home work time. The use of this form of ICT is also beneficial for the teacher. It allows transparent tracking of who has completed set tasks and measures the length of time required to achieve specific learning outcomes. These programs engage students through the completion of assessments, games and the achievement of learning outcomes.
