4.4 Maintain student safety Describe strategies that support students’ wellbeing and safety working within school and/or system, curriculum and legislative requirements
Example Responding to abuse and neglect Within South Australia it is a legislative requirement that all pre-service and qualified teachers complete the Child Safe Environments training day. I satisfied this requirement in April 2013 in Adelaide, South Australia. The course was extremely informative and I now have a thorough understanding of my role and responsibilities as an educator. Upon reflection, I am glad I completed this training at the beginning of my studies. I have been able to translate acquired knowledge into practice due to my exposure in the classroom setting. When observing my mentor teachers implement strategies to promote student wellbeing and safety, I am now aware of the rationale behind their decisions. Below is a copy of my certificate from the education day completed.
Example Communication with parents and care givers To promote student well being and safety, inclusion of parents and care givers is required. Please refer to information contained here.
