About Me
My Learning Journey
During my primary schooling, I always wanted to be a teacher, however my secondary schooling led me down a different path. After completing my high school studies, I undertook my electrical training and began practicing as an electrician in January 2004. This was a career I enjoyed for ten years. I loved the physical demands of the job and working outdoors in a team, but I always felt as though something was missing in regards to my career. The decision to undertake a Bachelor of Education- Primary Teaching was a daunting one that occurred at the end of 2012. I was twenty nine years old at the time I applied to attend university and commenced tertiary study. Although I knew in my heart I was making the right decision, I felt very nervous at commencing four years of external study given my age and lack of experience completing academic studies.
Not long after starting my degree I began working at two schools in the Out of School Hours Care setting to gain more experience in my chosen field of work. I was also fortunate to secure Education Support Officer work in the classroom- a role I enjoyed immensely. Both roles have assisted me to understand how children learn and what it means to be a successful educator. I have thoroughly enjoyed my studies and look forward to working in the capacity of Primary School Teacher.
