5.2 Provide feedback to students on their learning Demonstrate an understanding of the purpose of providing timely and appropriate feedback to students about their learning
Example The importance of providing timely and appropriate feedback Whilst the provision of official 'marking' is an important contributing factor to assessment and student growth, timely and appropriate informal feedback is also invaluable. The provision of consistent feedback to students throughout the year informs them as to how their learning is progressing and identifies areas of which they need to work on. This prevents students being surprised or discouraged by a sudden poor grade and also prevents students from falling into bad habits which could prove challenging to rectify later. An example of a formal assessment can be found here.
Example Example of an improvement strategy Below is evidence of an improvement strategy I designed as part of a university assignment. Within the table, initial student feedback is provided and a plan is devised. The learning activities included are linked to relevant teaching theories and demonstrate my knowledge surrounding the importance of feedback, and how it can be used to improve students learning outcomes.
